Letter to My Younger Self

Dear Younger Self,
 
I’m so glad to have this opportunity to give you advice from the knowledge I’ve gleaned over this life so far. Here goes:

• Get in a relationship with God. Once I finally did, my life improved in amazing ways.
• Be as kind to yourself as you are to others. Everyone has faults; so don’t waste time trying to be perfect-you’ll never meet that goal. Nobody can.
• Let go of that control you hang on to so tightly. The worry over losing it will cause premature silvering of your hair.
• Journal. Just do it.
• Say yes to opportunities as they arise. I‘d say I’ve done a pretty good job of this (having received the same advice at your age), but it’s important enough to hear twice.
• Learn to love cooking. You will need to eat throughout your whole life, so the cleaning and preparing of food will be a valuable life skill.
• Get on a healthy exercise and food program. You don’t have to look like a model, just be healthy. Drink water, not soda!
• Take more photos. A million is not enough.
• Embrace change. Life is change. It happens whether you want it to or not, so adapt quickly and make it your own.
• Keep loving and hugging on those who matter most to you. You will never regret it.
