Cecily gets a part in the video and all of Andrew’s attention on the set. Her friend begins to see red and Cecily’s boyfriend is seeing green—as in major jealousy. A misunderstanding leaves Cecily and her boyfriend on the outs and Andrew hopes to pick up the pieces as he’s looking for someone more stable in his life than the celebrities he’s dated. Soon Cecily begins to realize Andrew understands her more than her small-town boyfriend—but can her perfect love match really be her favorite rock star? Just let me know by either DMing me or you can send me message here: www.krystenlindsay.com/contact.html and I will send you the info. You can post any time on Thursday or after. It's a YA contemporary sweet pop star romance. Thanks for your help! Excited to have author Nancy Parish on today to talk about her new book and I want to share that 15% of the proceeds will be donated to animal shelters and cat rescues. Buy a book and help some kitties! Tell us about your new book In January 2020, I attended a kitty yoga class at a cat cafe. As I was practicing my downward dog, I met a blind kitten that was as cute as she was boisterous. I watched as she scampered across the floor with a stuffed chicken between her teeth. She’d stolen it from a bigger cat. I was instantly smitten and adopted her a day later. Life with Scout: The Blind Kitty Chronicles details my time with Scout and gives the reader a view of the good, bad and funny sides of pet adoption and ownership of a blind kitten. What inspired you to write the book? The chapters for Life with Scout: The Blind Kitty Chronicles started as articles for publications on www.medium.com. I wrote a lot of different articles on Medium, but the cat articles always received the most views. So, when one of the publications that I frequently wrote for closed, I decided to curate the best cat articles, revise them and publish an e-book. That book became Life with Scout: The Blind Kitty Chronicles. Tell us about the cause the book helps support Although Scout was a resident of the kitty café, she came there by way of a cat rescue. My other cats—I have three total—all came from animal shelters. I can’t imagine my life without these three characters especially during the pandemic. They make laugh every day. I decided I wanted to donate a portion of my proceeds to help animal shelters and cat rescues. I guess it’s about lending my voice to help those who don’t have one. You have a lot of great articles and essays about cats. Tell us what you write as a freelancer and where we can find these. I write mainly essays and those I submit to publications on www.Medium.com. Catness and The Haven are two of my favorite publications. I usually post my articles on Twitter too. You can follow me there @nancyparish What was your favorite book when you were growing up? Socks by Beverly Cleary was a favorite. I checked that out whenever I could from the library growing up. I also enjoyed Millions of cats. I’m sensing a theme… and I read Are you there God? It’s me Margaret over and over. I loved all things Judy Blume. What is your favorite genre? I love a good YA Thriller. I’m a huge fan of Karen McManus’ books. I always reread my favorite books. Do you reread books and if so, which one(s) have you read over again? Besides the ones above, I re-read the Harry Potter Series each time a new movie or book came out. I also re-read To Kill A Mockingbird every few years. Who are some of your favorite authors? Nora Ephron, Karen McManus, Harper Lee, Dr. Seuss, Judy Blume This or That Questions: Autumn or Spring? Autumn. I’m a sweaters and boots gal. Ocean/Lake or Mountains? Ocean Coffee, Tea, or soda? Coffee Favorite singer: So many. Carole King, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor. Coldplay, Elvis Costello, Taylor Swift Song you could listen to on repeat for hours: Brown-eyed Girl, Big Yellow Taxi, American Pie Favorite show to watch: I’ve re-watched The West Wing so many times. Anything by Aaron Sorkin Bio: Nancy Parish is a Cincinnati-based freelance writer and the founder of the Cincinnati SCBWI group. Her column, “Footnotes,” appeared on the Guide to Literary Agents Blog for several years. Her writing has also appeared in Children’s Writer’s and Illustrator’s Market, Better Marketing, The Startup and Catness. When she is not writing, she is teaching her cats how to fetch their toys. Gilbert's fun answers to my Spring Break Fun Q & A interview Spring Break Fun Favorite thing to do on Spring Break when you were a kid/preteen/teen? I read a lot as a kid, so unless we were on actual vacation, I’m pretty sure I was just plowing through a stack of easy reads. Did you go on any trips during Spring Break? I honestly can’t remember when our trips were timed. I think we avoided Spring Break trips because everywhere would be crowded. A Fall long weekend was more likely. Favorite Spring flower? Any that doesn’t give me allergies. I don’t like maintaining the bushes, but forsythia are nice. What’s the best part of Spring for you and the least favorite part? These days? Best part is Spring Break 😉 Least favorite part is the bugs. They come out of hiding. What food says Spring to you? Any specific fruit or dessert? Noodle salad has always been a spring/summer thing. I don’t have much use for mayonnaise in the winter, but come spring or summer, having a variety of cooler type meals was always nice. This or That Movies or TV Series? Depends on the exact show or movie. And circumstances. I do like the movie experience and the big screen appeal, but since I’m mostly a homebody, I’d say shows are easier. Lemonade or fruit juice/smoothie? I do like smoothies. Some have a splash of lemonade in it, but on its own, lemonade is a tad too tart. Picnics or hiking? Ha, neither, but if I had to choose one, I’d say hiking. Park or beach? Park. Audiobook News: Big Sale for Q2 2022 Findaway Voices is letting people run a large audiobooks sale. It runs all of Q2, which I believe is April, May, June. This is an excellent time to catch up. I’m really liking Chirp’s layout. You can also look these up by title.
